Jo Royle is internationally recognised as one of Europe’s leading female ocean yacht skippers. She’s one of the few sailors to have circumnavigated South Georgia in the Southern Ocean and through her extensive sailing experience, which has taken her as far north as Iceland and south to Antarctica, Jo has been able to witness first-hand the effects of global warming. Jo is passionate about inspiring business and individual responsibility to protect natural systems, and firmly believes that we hold the tools to ensure a healthy planet for future generations.
Jo co-designed and skippered the Plastiki, an expedition that showcased waste as a resource and the crisis of plastic marine pollution. She is still working out if skippering a vessel that floated on 12,000 reused plastic drinks bottles was an accolade or a demotion!
